I thought it was a penalty. Walker clearly kicks the Denmark player's foot.

Fucking hell mate, if that was a penalty, then my cock's a bloater.

Re: England v Denmark
Our midfield, for years, has lacked creativity ( someone who can do the unexpected ) largely because there has been nobody available with that talent. So let’s give Grealish a try and hope that two Irishmen in our midfield will make us better in comparison with playing just one of them.

What a dull match this was. I wasn't that critical of the lineup. There was enough quality there but unfortunately not enough effort or performance. Maguire looks like his heads gone - burnt out and rash. The centre midfield way too negative with too many safe sideways and backwards passes. Never seemed any urgency from England. Thought Rashford and Kane were dreadful, Mount made bad decisions and wasted good opportunities.
Really was nothing to get excited about. Denmark were equally poor and if it had not been for a 'kind' penalty then this would have been goalless.
James and Maitland Niles were ok early on but after the sending off we were very passive.

When Southgate started out as England manager, he took chances, picked youngsters, and had us going at the top teams. Now, he has become ultra-conservative and safe, and too loyal to out of form players. This always seems to happen.

No, but a lot of people seem to be under the misconception, if you get the ball first, it can't be a foul, when plainly it can.

Never a pen in a zillion years and a fucking harsh 2nd yellow... to be fair we was the better team after but always gonna be one of those days unfortunately... I like GS but think he was massively conservative last night... Rice-Phillips and Henderson ain't for the likes of Denmark..

Shit blue kit.

Piss poor from that Man U frankenstein's monster lookalike bloke, although the second one he did take the ball first, and what a fucking soft penalty.

Got done up a bit, I think.

Re: England v Denmark
Back in the day you could jump in with two feet as long as you got the ball first. The rules now aren’t interested about getting the ball first, it’s how much danger you’re causing; whether you’re in control. As Maguire caught and injured the player, it’s a clear yellow by today’s standards.

And as soft as the penalty seemed, strictly speaking it was one, because Walker missed the ball and kicked the Dane’s foot after he had played the ball away.

The pen was ludicrous
The ref must have had the only angle that looked like a pen. Or he was incompetent
Not sure why there is no VAR in these internationals though in most cases they won’t over rule anyway once a pen is given

Re: England v Denmark
Maguire's wasn't a two footed lunge, so that comparison is a bit pointless.

I thought it was a very harsh yellow, as was the pen. But you could argue his first yellow could have been a red.

Westside 11:28 Thu Oct 15
Re: England v Denmark
he clearly got the ball first and cleanly......caught the guy after but thats fine in my book if you get the ball first

So, if I lunged in two footed from 10 yards away, got the ball first and the follow through, broke your leg, that would be fine?

Re: England v Denmark
Southgate is a stronger manager than we have had previously and is not going to pick a player based on a media led campaign.

Grealish had a chance against Wales and will be in the next squad. He will have to wait for another opportunity to claim a more regular place in the team.

The media are great at saying who should definitely play for England but never say who should be left out. Last season it was Maddison.

Re: England v Denmark
yeah cant really argue with that Sven Id like to see something along the following see how we get on

pope

Rice Coady Gomez

Trent Phillips Grealish Chilwell

Sancho Sterling
Kane

Re: England v Denmark
Both yellows under current regime for me
Why Maguire was diving in with lunges miles up the pitch is beyond me. Especially the second time when on a yellow

England have some talented players but thought G Neville made a good point saying he thinks individual errors is what worries him most about Southgates team in terms of winning anything.
Players like Maguire, Pickford & Walker always look like an accident waiting to happen.

With players trying to bonk Icelandics and PARTYING with Tammy Abraham you worry about their professionalism under Nice Uncle Gareth in his cardigan.
He seems more interested in excluding Jack Grealish than drawing a line and sharpening up some of the cunts.

Re: England v Denmark
Dont think you can expect to win a tournament when you are setting up at home to Denmark with 3 CB's and both Rice and Phillips. While both played well, they will not be good enough going forward to beat these sort of teams where you will have the majority of the ball

No idea why Mount played RW, no idea why Grealish was left on the bench

Maguire looks shot, he was a good CB when Man Utd bought him but he has gone miles backwards since then. OGS and his coaches have made him worse.

The England gig is a relatively easy gig last few years with all the young exciting talent coming through but fuck me Southgate is making a meal of it

Re: England v Denmark
I'm no Maguire or Man United fan but that second yellow was very harsh last night. He cleared the ball and the bloke basically run in to his foot. What are you meant to do with your foot after you clearly and cleanly win the ball?

Re: England v Denmark
Definitely a yellow, Nevillle said even possibly a straight red, not saying I agree but those are the rules
